Teaser Tuesday – Iliad #2

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teaser this week comes from Homer’s The Iliad page 212:

But lordly Poseidon, shaker of shores, was not For a moment unwatchful from where on the highest peak Of well-wooded Samothrace he sat rapt at the sight Of raging battle, for from his position there He could clearly see all Ida, the city of Priam, And the ships of the Achaeans.  There he sat, after he Had emerged from the sea, and he had compassion on all The Achaeans now overcome by the Trojans, but against Almighty Zeus he seethed with bitter resentment.

Please feel free to share yours below!

  1. I haven’t read this book but I do love this teaser. Thanks for sharing 🙂

You can find my teaser here

    • It’s turning out to be much more interesting and enjoyable than I thought it would be. I’m not a big fan of poetry, but it’s definitely easy to read. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Very ambitious read! Sounds fascinating….

    • It’s turning out to be pretty good. It’s a much easier read than I thought it would be for poetry. It’s the first of a few that I’m going to tackle, I’m going for the Odyssey next.

  3. Here is my teaser from The Trophy Bride’s Tale by Cyrilla Barr (page 1):

I have never seen an execution! I am terrified & tremble uncontrollably now as I stand on the fringes of restless crowd desperately hoping that no one will notice me in my shabby pilgrim’s weeds. At that I saw his face break into a warm smile and I knew I had at last reached safer ground.
