A Weekend Without Reading

Good Sunday Morning! What a week and weekend it has been! This past week, I really haven’t gotten very much reading done as we’ve had family trickling in for my wife’s baby shower which was yesterday afternoon. So our home has had as many as 20 people in it n the last 72 hours.

The important thing is my wife had a good time yesterday, while I, your humble reader/blogger, hosted a daddy-day care at the house with my brother-in-law. I suppose it was good practice for me for things to come!

That being said, as you can imagine, I didn’t get very much reading accomplished during the week or weekend. I did get some reading does, about 40 pages of Aristotle’s The Metaphysics and my weekly reading for Charles Dickens’s Bleak House.

This week, I would like to see myself get closer to the home stretch with The Metaphysics and get close out another week with Bleak House.

Also, stay tuned for some changes to the blog. I know that I’ve been teasing about it for a few weeks now, and I’ve just about nailed down what those changes are. What are you reading for the week?

  1. Oh, I can totally relate to how difficult it is to read with small children in the house! Thankfully, mine are all grown and my youngest grandchild (age 9) is pretty independent as long as he has his video games.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with the blog. I’m all about blog makeovers, and constantly change the themes on mine.

I did some of that this week on my blog where I post MY SUNDAY SALON

    • Just wait until your bambino arrives! I had no idea that one little person could eat up so much time and energy. (All worth it, I assure you.)

      Here’s my
      Sunday Salon.
I hope you will stop by!

      • Yeah, my wife keeps on telling me I won’t have as much free time for my own personal hobbies anymore. She says I simply haven’t come to the realization yet, and that I’m going to be certainly shocked! Thanks for dropping by!

    • Yeah, it was pretty difficult; however, I did get to see all but one of my cute nieces this weekend, so that’s the big positive out of the entire weekend. Thanks for dropping by!

  2. I’m going to be continuing Raymond Chandler’s Philip Marlowe series today.

As for your reading, I’ll give you a pass this time :P. But don’t let it happen again.

    • I’m unfamiliar with Chandler’s Philip Marlowe series, time to hit Amazon and/or Barnes and Noble’s websites to take a gander.

Thanks for the free pass! :-D

  3. Excuse me, but aren’t you the Caps person? No mention this week of the great win they had over the Bruins? Since I formerly lived in DC … I was surprised and elated with the victory. So enjoy your wknd of not reading … but do watch some hockey

    • You’re right, I’m the Caps person. :-) I probably should’ve mentioned it! I was definitely surprised with the victory, as a matter of fact, I don’t think my wife had ever seen me so happy with a Caps playoff victory!

Unfortunately, I only got in about 30 minutes of hockey watching this past weekend with the in-laws in town, but I should be able to catch Game 2 of the Caps-Rangers series. Thanks for dropping by!

  4. I sure know what its like no to read for weeks, month and years… Jermy
I still have to finish off the Aristotle Metaphysics, that I commited to read with you… the 2 books of my book club and the 2 side books with it, another book, making of a paticular empire in refutation of the article someone has been writing not to mention a wine book and atleast 2 philosophy books that I had picked up earlier but never read and wanted to commit to reading. That make it 8 books. hopefully 2 a week should make me complete 8 in a month to begin as it has almsot been 8 years since I actively read.

I am trying hard to find the time to read. Maybe I can read while I do cardios in the evnening for an hour or two to get rid of my stubborn body fat!
    Lets see….
